Responsibilities
- Drive frontend architecture for Navan’s Admin and User portals.
- Build state-heavy interfaces for travel policies, approval chains, user roles, dashboards, and integration flows.
- Develop supporting Java/Spring Boot backend services, APIs, and data integrations.
- Own features end-to-end from user interface through backend and database design to launch.
- Partner with product designers to implement pixel-perfect interfaces and contribute to shared UI component libraries.
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership on frontend architecture strategy and technical roadmaps.
- Write high-quality code, implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, and advocate for reliability, monitoring, and documentation.
- Mentor other engineers and serve as a subject matter expert in UI/UX engineering.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience building complex SaaS or consumer-facing web applications.
- 4+ years of frontend development experience with modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Deep proficiency in TypeScript, complex application state management, and rendering performance optimization.
- Backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Experience designing scalable applications across microservices, distributed systems, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Experience with web accessibility and localization best practices.
- Ability to ship production-quality code with robust monitoring and documentation.
- Ability to effectively use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, CodeGPT, Claude, and Cursor.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong ownership, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.
