Responsibilities

  • Design and develop production-scale AI capabilities, Copilot orchestration and runtime systems, multimodal and agentic experiences, and computer and tool-use capabilities.
  • Write secure, maintainable, and well-tested code; conduct insightful code reviews and coach other engineers.
  • Lead architecture and design decisions across performance, scalability, resiliency, cost, disaster recovery, security, privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define test strategies, including regression prevention, security invariants, negative cases, and improvements to test-suite reliability and speed.
  • Drive project and release planning, feature-flag experiments, automated deployment, rollback plans, and capacity planning.
  • Serve as an on-call directly responsible individual, improve telemetry and observability, lead incident retrospectives, and implement corrective actions.
  • Use AI tools across the software development lifecycle while owning the quality of generated code and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background-check and applicable customer or government security-screening requirements.
  • Preferred: master’s degree plus 6+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree plus 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience shipping internet-scale, low-latency, high-throughput systems or AI products.
  • Ability to communicate technical details across organizational boundaries and work end-to-end from planning and design through release and service operation.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, results orientation, adaptability, and ability to work through ambiguity.

Benefits

  • The role is based in Canada and offers a typical base pay range of CAD $114,400–$203,900 per year.
