Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend microservices for personalization and content recommendations.
- Own assigned problem areas end to end, from system design and implementation through production rollout and ongoing operations.
- Build resilient, fault-tolerant, and observable distributed systems.
- Work with relational, vector, search, key-value, NoSQL, and caching systems to develop efficient data access patterns.
- Integrate ML models into real-time serving and inference pipelines in collaboration with ML Engineers and Data Scientists.
- Perform high-level and low-level system design and communicate architectural trade-offs.
- Optimize systems for performance, latency, scalability, reliability, and cost.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, and Platform Engineering teams across web, mobile, and connected TV products.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and improve production reliability and operational excellence.
- Contribute to architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability, and security best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience building backend software systems in production environments.
- Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages, preferably Golang.
- Experience designing and building scalable, available, and reliable distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or Aurora, including query optimization and data modeling.
- Experience with Redis or ElastiCache and cache invalidation strategies.
- Experience with DynamoDB, access patterns, and cost trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud-based systems.
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms as applied to backend and distributed systems.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver end-to-end systems with minimal guidance.
- Preferred experience with vector databases and similarity search, including Milvus, Zilliz, or Pinecone.
- Preferred experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
- Preferred experience with ML model serving and real-time inference systems, including Triton, KServe, or SageMaker.
- Preferred experience building recommendation engines, personalization platforms, or content-ranking services.
- Preferred experience with event-driven architectures, SNS/SQS, or Kafka.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes, EKS, pod tuning, and HPA.
- Preferred experience with Terraform, observability tools, service meshes, experimentation platforms, streaming platforms, digital media, or consumer-facing applications.
