Base Salary

$166k - $296k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect security services meeting sovereign cloud requirements for data residency, regulatory compliance, and isolation.
  • Drive integration across Microsoft Security, Azure, and SCS teams to shape platform architecture and sovereign capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and operate scalable, resilient distributed cloud services with high availability and operational excellence.
  • Lead technical strategy in ambiguous problem spaces, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide experimentation.
  • Embed monitoring, live-site readiness, incident response, performance optimization, and reliability practices into development.
  • Champion engineering standards, clean code, modern development practices, and developer productivity improvements.
  • Mentor senior engineers and influence technical strategy and culture across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on Azure, including production ownership and CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Experience applying distributed-systems concepts such as concurrency, conflict resolution, and consensus algorithms to resilient backend architectures.
  • Experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, including authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with sovereign cloud, data residency, or regulatory compliance requirements in cloud platform engineering.
  • Experience with reliability, durability, operational efficiency, live-site operations, incident response, and performance optimization.
  • Experience programming in backend languages such as C#, Java, Go, or Python.
  • Experience designing and building microservices architectures with production ownership.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or a bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of equivalent experience.
  • U.S. citizenship must be verified via a valid passport because of government-customer and export-control restrictions.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $165,600–$296,400 per year; specific ranges apply in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for at least 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
