Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and scale backend services and supporting tools for a distributed service architecture.
- Ingest, analyze, and publish high volumes of spans and traces for downstream observability experiences.
- Test and integrate AI agents and AI-powered workflows for code generation, automated testing, architecture planning, code reviews, and production troubleshooting.
- Create automation and deployment tooling to improve system scalability and maintainability.
- Collaborate with product and sibling teams to influence the Service Architecture Intelligence product roadmap.
- Maintain team-owned software, use a DevOps approach, and participate in on-call rotations.
- Evaluate emerging AI agent capabilities and promote workflow innovation across the team.
Requirements
- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and production scaling.
- Strong experience writing software in object-oriented languages, with Java required, and the ability to adapt to different languages and frameworks.
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming techniques including streams, event-based flows, task queues, and message queues.
- Active experience using and integrating modern AI coding assistants and AI agents in engineering workflows.
- Experience delivering high-quality production code in a fast-paced environment and participating in Agile development.
- Collaborative approach to shared decision-making and code ownership.
- Proficiency in English.
- Preferred experience evaluating, benchmarking, or developing agentic AI tools, prompt workflows, or developer automation scripts.
- Open source contributions are preferred.
- Preferred understanding and application of build and test automation for development efficiency and reliability.
- Experience setting up and managing observability tools is preferred.
- Technical mentorship experience is preferred.
