Base Salary
$155k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the high-QPS, low-latency ad serving path, including ad requests, candidate retrieval, auction serving, bid serving, and event and attribution pipelines.
- Improve yield across internal and external auctions through floor pricing, timeout and latency management, and network or exchange migrations.
- Build and operate advertiser-facing campaign and line-item models, targeting, budgets, pacing, spend accounting, billing, APIs, and workflows.
- Implement outbound bidding into external exchanges, including OpenRTB integrations, creative delivery, audience matching, bid pricing and shading, budget and QPS protection, and post-bid reconciliation.
- Build real-time revenue metrics, alerting, discrepancy detection, and diagnostics for the advertising money path.
- Collaborate with product, algorithm/modeling, SRE, and ad operations teams; lead design reviews and document subsystem ownership.
- Support creative and landing-page policy enforcement, fraud and cloaking detection, and invalid-traffic signals within the serving path.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating distributed, high-QPS, low-latency production services using Java, Go, C++, or similar technologies.
- Strong system design fundamentals, including service decomposition, data modeling, caching, streaming and messaging, analytical query engines, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
- End-to-end ownership of a revenue-critical or transaction-critical system, including accounting correctness, idempotency, reconciliation, and production operations.
- Ability to take ambiguous business problems through implementation, measurement, and production delivery on a small team.
- Strong written communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including comfort with AI-assisted development workflows.
- Preferred: direct DSP, SSP, ad exchange, or ad server experience with OpenRTB, real-time auctions, header bidding, budget pacing, bid shading, and attribution or conversion measurement.
- Preferred: experience integrating Google Ad Manager, Ad Exchange, Meta or Google ad SDKs, or major mobile exchanges.
- Preferred: experience integrating ML model serving for CTR or CVR prediction and ranking into latency-sensitive auctions.
- Preferred: experience with brand safety, ad fraud, or invalid-traffic detection.
Benefits
- Full-time position with a stated annual base pay range of $155,000–$260,000 USD.
- May be eligible for a discretionary bonus and stock options.
