Responsibilities
- Design and implement multi-agent workflows, autonomous reasoning loops, and tool-augmented LLM architectures.
- Embed with customers and translate ambiguous business requirements into high-performance, deterministic AI and agentic workflows.
- Prototype agentic frameworks using LangGraph, AutoGen, or custom execution graphs and harden them for enterprise production.
- Develop reusable evaluation frameworks and safety guardrails covering precision, security, latency, and cost efficiency.
- Provide customer and field-deployment feedback to DigitalOcean’s AI/ML product teams to improve the platform.
- Collaborate with customers, product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience in applied AI, machine learning, or data science.
- Proven experience with multi-agent orchestration, tool use, function-calling pipelines, MCP, structured outputs, dynamic planning, and persistent memory models.
- Strong production Python and systems engineering skills, including Pydantic, FastAPI, Asyncio, and PyTorch.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, distributed training tools, and agentic AI frameworks.
- Solid understanding of transformers and state space models.
- Preferred Ph.D. or master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, AI, or a related technical field.
- Preferred research experience, publications or patents, and knowledge of current LLM, VLM, and agentic framework research.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into AI engineering solutions and communicate technical trade-offs to engineering and executive audiences.
- Experience collaborating with customers, model vendors, or ecosystem partners on benchmarking, optimization, fine-tuning, or launch readiness.
- Ability to travel up to 30% and consistently overlap with North American business hours.
