Responsibilities
- Design solutions, estimate work, and translate requirements into technical designs.
- Develop maintainable Java services using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests and conduct peer code reviews.
- Optimize JVM, garbage collection, SQL, caching, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Contribute to domain-driven design, clean architecture, and event-driven architecture improvements.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Security, and architecture teams to deliver features end to end.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum grooming, planning, demos, and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior engineers on best practices, testing, and code quality.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of software development experience, including at least 1 year building production-grade Java microservices.
- Proficiency with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Data/JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Cloud.
- Experience with microservices architecture, inter-service communication, REST API design, OpenAPI/Swagger, and API documentation.
- Strong SQL, relational database, schema design, and query optimization experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Experience with Kafka or IBM MQ for event streaming or asynchronous processing.
- Experience with Maven or Gradle, Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, contract testing, and integration testing.
- Familiarity with SonarQube, CodeQL, Checkstyle, PMD, SpotBugs, and other static analysis tools.
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Spring Security, secure coding, secrets handling, dependency management, and OWASP basics.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: reactive programming with Project Reactor or Spring WebFlux, API gateways, rate limiting, Helm, payments or financial services, GraphQL, gRPC, event sourcing, DDD, clean architecture, and basic frontend troubleshooting knowledge.
