Base Salary

$147k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of the virtualization subsystem, including the Virtual Machine Monitor and Cloud Hypervisor, at Google scale.
  • Develop specialized tooling for engineering practices in virtualization and systems programming.
  • Design and implement build, CI/CD, and qualification-testing automation for Rust-based VMMs and guest-isolation layers.
  • Support virtualization-layer delivery across millions of production hosts, product lines, and hardware configurations.
  • Build observability frameworks for VM health and I/O performance to improve release processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages and with data structures and algorithms.
  • At least 2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • At least 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • At least 2 years of coding experience in C or C++.
  • Experience with operating systems and hypervisors.
  • Preferred experience with virtualization, Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance and application issues, or software quality.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and comfort working in engineering and operational environments.

  • US base salary is listed as $147000-$210000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
