Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, ship, and operate AI-powered spreadsheet features.
- Contribute to architecture, design, code reviews, debugging, deployment, monitoring, operational readiness, code quality, performance, reliability, security, and customer experience.
- Develop end-to-end AI product experiences spanning rich user interfaces, workbook and enterprise context, application logic, model orchestration, services, data access, and platform capabilities.
- Build large-language-model workflows that understand user intent, reason over spreadsheet data, invoke tools, and support calculation, analysis, visualization, organization, and sharing.
- Build grounded agentic experiences using permission-aware context, validated model outputs, evaluation, telemetry, and safeguards.
- Apply responsible AI practices including transparency, user control, privacy, security, guardrails, uncertainty handling, and fallbacks.
- Prototype with emerging models and tools, validate assumptions, and mature successful concepts into production solutions.
- Collaborate across Engineering, Product Management, Design, Applied Science, Research, and partner teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and operating production software.
- Preferred experience with full-stack, web, client, or distributed systems development and software fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, debugging, testing, and performance analysis.
- Hands-on experience with large language models, generative AI, machine learning, or natural-language interfaces is preferred.
- Preferred experience building production AI applications with agent orchestration, tool or function calling, retrieval and grounding, prompt and context engineering, structured outputs, evaluation, observability, and safeguards.
- Preferred experience using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering judgment, review, and validation.
- Preferred experience developing rich, data-intensive applications with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern user-interface framework.
- Experience with spreadsheets, productivity, collaboration, analytics, data visualization, or business intelligence features is preferred.
