Responsibilities
- Own a large portion of one of Ashby’s products and drive projects from problem research through implementation.
- Design and build customer-facing product features for Talent Acquisition and future product areas.
- Research customer needs and competitors, write product specifications, make product and design decisions, and create wireframes and prototypes.
- Implement frontend and backend functionality and choose appropriate technologies and infrastructure.
- Build powerful abstractions and flexible systems for complex product requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders while keeping them informed.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues and improve tools that help Support debug problems.
- Contribute to developer tooling, reusable product building blocks, and AI-powered tools that improve engineering leverage.
- Participate in pair programming and technical, product, and infrastructure design discussions during the interview process.
- Ship progressively more complex product changes during onboarding and participate in 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews.
Requirements
- Experience owning and leading software projects through ambiguity and end-to-end delivery.
- Ability to work across the technology stack, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure as needed.
- Strong product thinking and willingness to research customer and competitor needs, write product specifications, and create wireframes.
- Ability to balance speed and software quality in a startup environment.
- Ambition, openness to feedback, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent collaboration and deliberate, concise communication skills.
- Ability to create leverage through automation, abstractions, debugging tools, lint rules, and other developer or support tooling.
- Comfort handling customer issues and investigations, including detailed technical work.
- Previous experience with Ashby’s technology stack is not required; strong fundamentals and an ability to learn quickly are valued.
- A love of typed languages is helpful.
