Responsibilities
- Embed with portfolio companies to understand their operating models, priorities, revenue drivers, and workflow bottlenecks.
- Identify two or three high-leverage workflows where agentic software can materially improve business outcomes.
- Build and deploy integrations, prompts, evaluations, workflows, and UI surfaces for agentic software systems.
- Monitor deployed systems, tune prompts, adjust autonomy levels, and hand stable workflows to portfolio operations.
- Translate deployment learnings into reusable playbooks for other portfolio companies in the same vertical.
- Serve as Beacon’s technical relationship owner for portfolio company GMs and build trust around the deployed systems.
Requirements
- Strong generalist engineering ability with full-stack TypeScript or Python, React, and fluent SQL skills.
- Ability to ship real software using foundation models, including prompts, evaluations, fine-tuning decisions, autonomy gating, and outcome tracking.
- Comfort working autonomously in unfamiliar codebases and acting as the primary Beacon engineer embedded with a portfolio company.
- Customer-focused operating judgment, including the ability to understand business priorities and read a P&L.
- Strong written communication skills for producing wedge memos, GM updates, deployment retrospectives, and playbooks.
- Prior Forward Deployed Engineer experience is a bonus.
- Private equity, consulting, or M&A diligence exposure is a bonus.
- Experience with Iceberg-based data platforms, Snowflake, Databricks, event-driven systems, or production agentic systems is a bonus.
