Principal AI Engineer

- Design, build, and deploy autonomous multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, and Autogen.
- Architect graph-based agent workflows with complex state management, conditional routing, parallel execution, task decomposition, and error recovery.
- Develop reusable agent node libraries, platform patterns, versioning strategies, and testing frameworks.
- Build production FastAPI applications with asynchronous I/O, PostgreSQL, Redis, and enterprise service integrations.
- Implement real-time streaming with Server-Sent Events and WebSocket protocols alongside RESTful and event-driven APIs.
- Integrate AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI GPT-4 with prompt management and tool-calling systems.
- Implement conversation-state persistence, Model Context Protocol integrations, function calling, and external data-source connectivity.
- Build hybrid intelligence and response-transformation pipelines combining LLM reasoning, rules, and statistical analysis.
- Implement Langfuse or LangSmith observability, tracing, telemetry, performance monitoring, cost optimization, and agent evaluation.
- Integrate LDAP, SSO, access controls, data governance, Responsible AI practices, and enterprise security requirements.
- Partner with data engineers, business analysts, UX teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable agent workflows and streaming interfaces.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in architecture reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 9 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and deploying production LLM-powered applications.
- Expert-level asynchronous Python programming, including asyncio and async/await patterns.
- Production experience with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, Autogen, or similar agentic orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT-4, or similar cloud LLM providers.
- Experience with FastAPI, Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience building autonomous multi-step agent systems with conditional logic, state management, and tool-calling patterns.
- Strong understanding of ReAct, Plan-and-Execute, and tool-use agent design patterns.
- Experience implementing Model Context Protocol and agent-to-agent communication frameworks.
- Familiarity with LLMOps, Langfuse, LangSmith, prompt engineering at scale, and prompt templating, versioning, and optimization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills for globally distributed teams.
- Prior global life sciences experience, especially in the GPS functional area, is preferred.
- Experience managing or collaborating with offshore technical development teams and diverse international stakeholders is preferred.
