Base Salary

$110k - $160k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Drive the architecture, development, and maintenance of the TransformHub compute platform for scalable, governed workload execution.
  • Improve the platform’s developer experience, onboarding, workload operation, and adoption across Tempus.
  • Build the synchronous streaming runtime for interactive agents alongside the existing batch execution system.
  • Design, implement, and test production backend services in TypeScript that connect data sources and improve scalability and performance.
  • Help teams migrate workloads from the legacy platform and adopt new TransformHub capabilities.
  • Support platform users by answering questions, troubleshooting development and production issues, and removing blockers.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs with Product Managers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Raise engineering standards through mentoring, code reviews, testing, documentation, and best practices.
  • Monitor and operate production platform systems, respond proactively to issues, and participate in business-hours on-call.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on platform engineering, data engineering, or backend web services.
  • Strong experience building and operating production containerized workloads with Docker in batch or distributed data systems on a public cloud.
  • Experience with GCP, including Cloud Batch and GKE, or equivalent services on another public cloud.
  • Experience implementing security best practices for HIPAA and other sensitive data in production systems.
  • Experience developing backend web services in a statically typed language such as TypeScript, Java, or Rust, with this role primarily using TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical designs.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Familiarity with relational database design, application-level operations, and schema migrations.
  • Experience monitoring and operating production platform systems, including user support or on-call duties.
  • Interest in building and productionizing AI agents or in streaming APIs, request/response runtimes, and safe deployment.
  • Experience building frontend enterprise applications with React is a bonus.
