Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable components of distributed systems using distributed state-management and data-plane platforms.
  • Optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, processing, scalability, and performance.
  • Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
  • Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out tests for system correctness and reliability.
  • Create tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting mechanisms to detect and address failures.
  • Draft and execute runbooks, troubleshoot operational issues, participate in support rotations, and assist with incident response and root cause investigations.
  • Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for troubleshooting and cloud infrastructure maintenance.
  • Apply encryption, access controls, remediation plans, compliance practices, and change-management procedures in multi-tenant environments.
  • Track work with minimal supervision, collaborate across teams, solve standard and non-standard problems, and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5+ years of software engineering experience building reliable services, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one systems or backend language such as Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
  • Experience or strong interest in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Linux systems, containers, storage, networking, security, schedulers, control planes, or management planes.
  • Ability to design, build, test, and debug reliable software in a large, evolving codebase.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, troubleshooting, and continuous-learning skills.
  • Rust experience is preferred for compute- and systems-oriented roles.
