Responsibilities
- Build and operate low-latency, event-driven microservices end to end from APIs through storage.
- Design for resilience, multi-region readiness, data partitioning, statelessness, and reduced blast radius.
- Develop shared libraries, templates, runbooks, CI/CD patterns, GitOps workflows, progressive delivery, and automated rollback policies.
- Instrument services with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing; define and track SLIs and SLOs.
- Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, failure-tested runbooks, and postmortems.
- Collaborate with Product, SRE, Security, and Architecture on designs, reviews, tradeoffs, and technical documentation.
- Improve service security through OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, service-to-service authorization, secrets management, and supply-chain integrity.
- Profile performance, guide capacity planning and autoscaling, and optimize cloud costs for owned services.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years building and operating production microservices.
- Proficiency in Go and solid software engineering fundamentals, including testing, design, and code quality.
- Experience with Kubernetes, preferably EKS, Docker, AWS, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, autoscaling, and rollout patterns.
- Experience with Kafka or a similar broker, strong SQL proficiency, and at least one NoSQL data store.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Amazon RDS, or Aurora and a NoSQL store such as Cassandra, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Expertise in observability across metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, including Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
- Practical incident management experience and working knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, and secrets management such as KMS or Vault.
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions within the functional domain.
- Preferred experience with Argo CD or Flux, feature flags, progressive delivery, Istio or Linkerd, policy-driven traffic management, chaos engineering, fault injection, disaster recovery drills, multi-region patterns, data consistency tradeoffs, monolith-to-microservices migrations, performance profiling, AWS cost optimization, OSS contributions, technical talks, or technical writing.
