Responsibilities
- Test applications across iOS, Android, desktop, smart home, health, wearable, and other physical devices.
- Develop, update, and execute test plans, functional test cases, exploratory scenarios, regression tests, and sanity tests.
- Perform compatibility testing across operating system versions, screen resolutions, hardware specifications, and localized builds.
- Identify, reproduce, and document defects with logs, reproduction steps, screenshots, and video recordings.
- Conduct internationalization, localization, pseudo-localization, linguistic, accessibility, and UI quality testing.
- Validate Unicode and UTF-8 support, string externalization, hard-coded strings, bidirectional layouts, variable expansion, locale-aware sorting and filtering, formatting, pluralization, truncation, wrapping, and font rendering.
- Manage translation asset workflows through translation management systems and integrate them with code repositories and build pipelines.
- Use device testing platforms and debugging or API inspection tools to investigate device issues.
- Coordinate linguistic reviews with native-speaking linguists or translation agencies.
- Partner with automation engineers on basic test automation concepts and scripting.
Requirements
- Hands-on internationalization and localization testing experience focused on mobile and physical devices.
- Experience testing smart home, health, IoT, wearable, or specialized embedded-system devices.
- Understanding of SDLC, STLC, QA best practices, test planning, manual testing, and exploratory testing.
- Knowledge of UTF-8, UTF-16, ICU standards, CLDR data, JSON, XML, .po, .strings, XLIFF, and bidirectional or RTL layout handling.
- Experience identifying localization issues including truncation, text overlap, line wrapping, formatting, and font rendering problems.
- Experience with physical device labs and cloud-based device testing platforms.
- Understanding of iOS and Android ecosystems, including TestFlight, Xcode logs, ADB, Logcat, and APK installation.
- Basic familiarity with Charles Proxy, Fiddler, or Postman.
- Basic understanding of test automation concepts or scripting.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing standards and tools including WCAG, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
- Experience with translation management systems such as Smartling, Phrase, Crowdin, or Transifex and defect management tools such as Jira.
- Professional English proficiency; fluency or native-level proficiency in additional languages is a strong plus.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development cycles and QA methodologies.
- Familiarity with regional regulatory, privacy, or cultural standards in EMEA, APAC, or LATAM markets.
