Base Salary
$184k - $232k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the Search Engine architecture and operational model.
- Build the Indexing Pipeline for data ingestion and transformation.
- Manage Availability for zone-based delivery filtering and schedule matching.
- Drive search relevance and ranking strategy in collaboration with product and data teams.
- Define APIs for search and availability consumption across channels.
- Lead migration sequencing and risk management for phased rollouts.
- Establish a measurement foundation for evaluating search performance.
- Facilitate collaborative design discussions and align teams on architectural decisions.
- Partner with Platform Engineering on shared service patterns and CI/CD.
- Mentor team members through design and code reviews.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Deep experience in designing and building search engines, preferably Vespa.
- Strong proficiency in Go or willingness to adopt it.
- Experience with real-time data pipelines for search indexing.
- Strong instincts for relevance and ranking with data evaluation skills.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborative design and decision-making.
- A pragmatic mindset with strong ownership and systems thinking.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with geospatial systems is a plus.
