Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and technical design for secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions across multiple programmes.
- Translate government operational challenges into practical, user-centred technical solutions.
- Provide architectural leadership to Agile delivery teams and promote engineering best practices.
- Resolve complex, high-risk technical challenges while balancing security, resilience, delivery, and maintainability.
- Present solution recommendations and influence architectural decisions with senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Mentor architects and engineers and foster technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Maintain consistent architectural standards across multiple customer engagements while adapting solutions to client needs.
- Champion cloud-native development, automation, DevSecOps, and continuous improvement.
- Build trusted relationships with customers and identify opportunities to improve digital services.
Requirements
- Significant commercial experience in solution architecture and technical design.
- Strong software engineering background with previous hands-on development experience.
- Experience with open source technologies and frameworks, cloud platforms ideally AWS, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems.
- Experience with security architecture and secure-by-design principles.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and IAM.
- Experience with containers and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with one or more of Golang, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to engage senior stakeholders, customer operational teams, and engineers while providing strategic and technical leadership.
- Must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5+ years to meet security-clearance requirements.
