Responsibilities
- Develop and support software solutions for BT Group’s digital and telecom services.
- Design and implement Java and Spring Boot microservices with REST and asynchronous communication.
- Build Kafka-based event-driven architectures using producers, consumers, consumer groups, partitioning, replication, and delivery guarantees.
- Implement Saga, Outbox, Circuit Breaker, Retry, and Bulkhead patterns.
- Optimize SQL and NoSQL database performance through query tuning, indexing, data modelling, sharding, and replication.
- Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven or Gradle, and DevOps practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using observability tools and perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and mentor colleagues in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in Java 17 and/or Java 21.
- Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures with Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of REST, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, ACID, and CAP Theorem concepts.
- Hands-on Apache Kafka experience, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, partitioning, replication, and message delivery guarantees.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Strong knowledge of Java concurrency, multithreading, CompletableFuture, and virtual threads.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven or Gradle, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or ELK Stack.
- Experience with production support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, Agile/Scrum, stakeholder management, communication, and mentoring.
- Desirable experience includes Java with Spring Boot, SQL and NoSQL databases, native application deployment using Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka.
