Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers, project management, software engineering, architecture, and network operations to gather database requirements and improve or develop systems.
- Install, upgrade, secure, and administer database systems and cloud database services.
- Design and support 24x7 high-availability and fault-tolerant database solutions.
- Optimize server, operating system, and database performance through configuration, bottleneck analysis, code reviews, and system recommendations.
- Develop and optimize queries, stored procedures, ETL processes, database schemas, and database code.
- Execute database changes and perform recovery, restores, reporting, and data export/import tasks.
- Plan for system growth and scalability while ensuring vendor license compliance.
- Document database environments, processes, and best practices.
- Provide technical support, prompt problem resolution, and production/on-call emergency support.
- Support security and compliance requirements in a PCI-DSS Level 1 environment and assist with architecture, design, and automation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of DB2 or PostgreSQL database administration experience.
- 2+ years of Snowflake data warehouse administration and development experience.
- Experience with cloud PaaS database services, Linux/Unix, Jenkins, GitLab, and highly available or fault-tolerant systems.
- Security knowledge involving database encryption, masking, certificates, PKI, SSH, or VPN.
- Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with Azure, AWS, Terraform-based cloud database deployment, Azure Cosmos DB or similar technologies, database development, networking, PCI-DSS, ITIL, and Java application support.
- Ability to participate in on-call shifts, automate processes, document systems, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively.
