Responsibilities
- Define engineering standards, reference architectures, best practices, target-state architectures, and modernization roadmaps.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical governance, API architecture, and API lifecycle standards.
- Drive adoption of domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, API-first design, microservices, cloud-native platforms, and AI-augmented software engineering.
- Champion generative AI and AI-assisted development, including standards, guardrails, governance models, adoption metrics, and responsible-use practices.
- Lead modernization of legacy applications and platforms toward service-based and cloud-native architectures.
- Drive engineering automation, DevSecOps, platform engineering, reliability, scalability, technical-debt reduction, and developer-experience improvements.
- Mentor engineers, architects, and engineering managers through coaching, workshops, design reviews, and communities of practice.
- Establish engineering transformation outcomes, including improved delivery productivity, quality, API governance, modernization progress, and engineering effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience is required.
- 5+ years operating as a Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Chief Architect, or in a similar senior technical leadership role is required.
- Proven experience leading large-scale architecture and modernization initiatives.
- Deep expertise in API architecture, microservices, domain-driven design, event-driven systems, cloud platforms, DevSecOps, and CI/CD.
- Strong software engineering background in Java, .NET, Go, Python, or similar enterprise technology stacks.
- Experience defining engineering standards and governance models at scale.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise AI adoption, generative AI, LLMs, agentic AI, AI platforms, financial services or regulated industries, platform engineering, Kubernetes, container architectures, API management, and global engineering transformation programs.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, coaching, strategic thinking, and technical influence skills.
