Principal Software Engineer, IQ Grow
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Design and execute the technical architecture for scalable, reliable, and secure AI agents in Marketing and Demand Generation.
- Build, maintain, prototype, and optimize high-performing backend and full-stack solutions while resolving complex technical bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders and align with Principal and Senior Principal Engineers on engineering practices and agent patterns.
- Ship features end-to-end from design through rollout, monitoring production performance and iterating based on real-world usage.
- Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, constructive feedback, and technical leadership.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering workflow, velocity, and productivity.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend or full-stack software engineering experience delivering impactful products.
- Ability to read and integrate with frontend applications and work across the stack when needed.
- Strong enthusiasm for agentic development practices, LLM integration, and modern software paradigms.
- Strong software development fundamentals, including code quality, unit testing, clean code, and system performance.
- Ability to design high-level technical solutions while remaining hands-on with code-level execution.
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to engineers, product stakeholders, and business leadership.
- Ability to work effectively with ambiguity, incremental delivery, collaboration, feedback, and change.
