Base Salary
$136k - $213k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize high-throughput data ingestion pipelines for large-scale advertising data.
- Improve pipeline performance, reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability across distributed systems.
- Lead architectural decisions and define unified ingestion frameworks and standards across FreeWheel platforms.
- Develop and maintain Python-based microservices for real-time and batch ingestion.
- Author and review technical design documents for complex distributed systems.
- Drive system design and performance-tuning best practices, mentor engineers, and raise the team’s technical bar.
- Collaborate with data engineering, platform, and product teams.
- Use Snowflake to support downstream analytics and reporting, while optimizing analytics-ready data models and ensuring data quality, consistency, and traceability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, with consideration for coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
- 7–10 years of relevant work experience building data pipelines or distributed backend systems using Python.
- Strong proficiency in Python and microservices-based architectures.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Experience with distributed data systems such as Snowflake or Spark; Snowflake or Spark experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with SQL querying.
- Ability to lead design discussions and influence architectural decisions.
- Strong understanding of system performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Preferred qualifications include Snowpark or Databricks experience, ad tech or media experience, batch and streaming ingestion experience, ingestion standardization across teams or platforms, and cloud performance monitoring, observability, and cost optimization experience.
