Base Salary
$204k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the team’s technical strategy on a year-long horizon and connect it to critical, business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply team effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability by establishing monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call support.
- Set code review and design standards while promoting engineering quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Extensive experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks such as React.
- At least 2 years of experience working in search or related recommendation engines.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through defined technical and execution plans.
- Ability to write high-quality, understandable, reusable code and work from low-level language details through large-system architecture.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
