Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and execution across complex customer AI engagements.
- Design and build scalable production systems for multi-agent orchestration, enterprise retrieval, and decision intelligence.
- Define operational standards, evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, observability standards, and incident-response playbooks.
- Create reusable architectures, engineering patterns, accelerators, and platforms for the Forward Deployed Engineering practice.
- Mentor junior engineers and coach others on system design, customer engagement, and production operations.
- Identify opportunities to expand customer AI adoption and communicate learnings back to AWS services and the FDE practice.
- Travel 30–50% for customer engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale; experience developing AI agents is a plus.
- Experience with AI tools including evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience with AWS Services and building or deploying AI/ML applications at enterprise production scale.
- Preferred: founder, engineering lead, or startup-builder background with high ownership and urgency.
- Preferred: experience architecting and delivering complex multi-component systems in customer production environments.
- Preferred: experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and/or Go.
- Preferred: experience leading customer-facing technical projects or managing external stakeholder relationships.
- Preferred: 3+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
