Base Salary

$125k - $215k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build credibility with R&D leaders and shape strategic, first-of-kind engagements.
  • Lead R&D opportunities from pre-sales through delivery, including scoping, qualification, readiness assessment, feasibility, business value, staffing, estimates, success criteria, and phased plans.
  • Coordinate account, advisory, customer success, product engineering, and services teams throughout engagement delivery.
  • Translate scientific and engineering challenges into product backlogs, workflows, research objectives, metrics, and target-state AI architectures.
  • Lead design and delivery of MVPs, proofs of concept, and production-ready solutions involving Discovery workflows, agents, integrations, simulations, and data pipelines.
  • Own technical workstreams across qualification, discovery, design, implementation, build, and post-go-live optimization.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and provide scientific and technical oversight.
  • Develop reusable architectures, delivery playbooks, technical assets, and best practices while influencing the Microsoft Discovery roadmap.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field plus 6 or more years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in those fields plus 8 or more years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing multiple projects or portfolios.
  • At least 1 year of experience leading blended, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Preferred experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences R&D, including areas such as drug discovery, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or clinical development.
  • Understanding of scientific methods, experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and R&D workflows.
  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, generative AI, data science, simulation, or advanced analytics to business or scientific problems.
  • Ability to work with technical experts and executive stakeholders and influence cross-organizational outcomes.
  • Understanding of data science and machine learning algorithms, exploratory data analysis, model development, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services, Foundry, AI Search, agentic AI architectures, knowledge graphs, containers, and scientific high-performance computing.
  • Experience with product management, agile delivery, backlog management, large matrixed organizations, and innovation-focused initiatives.
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $124,500–$214,600 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $154,500–$231,700 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
