Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical IBM i (AS400/iSeries) applications.
- Analyze business requirements and prepare detailed technical design documentation.
- Estimate development efforts, track progress, and support delivery planning.
- Develop and optimize RPG, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL, CLLE, and DB2/400 applications.
- Support batch processing, system integrations, and operational workflows.
- Troubleshoot production issues, resolve defects, and maintain platform stability and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, release management, source control, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide rotational on-call support for critical business and operational incidents.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Business Analysts, QA, Operations, Client Services, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on IBM AS400 (IBM i/iSeries) application development and support experience.
- Strong expertise in RPG/RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL/CLLE, DB2/400, batch processing, DFU, and query tools.
- Experience supporting production environments and resolving complex application and system issues.
- Knowledge of IBM i APIs, Data Queues, User Queues, Message Queues, multi-threading, journaling, and IBM i library-based file systems.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and iterative delivery models.
- Experience with source control, code management, deployment, and release processes.
- Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced global team environment.
