Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, debug, and support enterprise-grade mainframe applications for equity compensation products.
- Provide strategic and hands-on technical leadership across multiple mainframe applications and platforms.
- Oversee day-to-day team activities, mentor junior developers, identify skill gaps, and foster engineering excellence.
- Translate business requirements into scalable end-to-end technical solutions aligned with strategic goals.
- Analyze production incidents, identify root causes, and drive permanent resolutions with minimal business impact.
- Conduct technical reviews and resolve complex system, integration, performance, reliability, security, and compliance issues.
- Champion automation, modernization, AI-tool adoption, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to manage expectations and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Support design, development, testing, deployment, and platform stability across Agile or hybrid delivery models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar subject.
- 15 years of development experience using mainframe technologies.
- Extensive hands-on expertise with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, native stored procedures, MVS, Endeavor, ISPF/TSO, CICS, Control-M, and IBM mainframe utilities.
- Hands-on exposure to AI tools and experience with mainframe modernization projects.
- Strong understanding of batch processing, online transactions, relational database design, data integration, and mainframe data pipeline patterns.
- Experience with large-scale IT transformation, migration, or modernization projects; financial services or brokerage experience is preferred.
- Ability to lead teams in Agile or hybrid delivery models and apply sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative development, testing, and automation practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, presentation, and technical leadership skills.
- Exposure to Core Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, cloud integration, automation or scripting, DevOps enablement, ITIL, and performance tuning is preferred.
- Relevant technology certifications are preferred.
