Base Salary

$150k - $200k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and own application architecture patterns, standards, and reference implementations across the organization.
  • Architect complex backend systems using microservices, APIs, streaming, event-driven protocols, and data engineering pipelines.
  • Design high-performance AI data platforms using vector stores, graph databases, distributed caching, and semantic retrieval over large corpora.
  • Establish patterns and guardrails for LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation, multi-model orchestration, and agentic workflows.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and ensure designs meet scalability, performance, security, interoperability, cost, privacy, and compliance requirements across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Set standards for AI-ready APIs, data services, and application frameworks.
  • Partner with engineering, product, data, and DevOps leaders to align technical direction with business outcomes and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure architectures address HIPAA, protected health information, and other regulated healthcare data requirements.
  • Provide technical mentorship to senior engineers and improve organization-wide architecture fluency.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software architecture, backend engineering, or data engineering, including senior or principal-level technical leadership.
  • Experience architecting complex distributed backend systems using microservices, APIs, and event-driven or streaming patterns.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating high-volume, high-dimensional data platforms with vector databases, graph databases, distributed caching, and semantic retrieval.
  • Practical experience building AI-native or AI-enabled applications with LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, and agentic systems.
  • Strong command of AWS, Azure, or GCP and experience operating across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Ability to remain hands-on in code while providing architecture-level leadership.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data security, privacy, compliance, HIPAA, and PHI handling.
  • Strong communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to engineering and business audiences.
  • Preferred experience in healthcare, health IT, regulated data environments, HITRUST, NIST, modern warehouse or lakehouse platforms, analytical data platforms, developer tooling, and AI-assisted software development workflows.
