
Lead Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer – Cloud Platforms (AWS) Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of cloud-native applications and distributed systems on AWS.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, including architecture and design decisions.
- Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching.
- Drive cloud adoption, modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
- Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions that improve reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, MQ, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, application performance, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives while remaining hands-on with design and development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
- AWS Professional Certification(s) are preferred.
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
- Experience leading cloud modernization and enterprise platform initiatives is preferred.
