Base Salary
$155k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technically complex, mission-critical problem areas and deliver results with substantial autonomy.
- Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities.
- Design and ship full-stack features across backend services, APIs, frontend web or mobile interfaces, and AI-powered workflows.
- Build and scale data ingestion, APIs, and systems that deliver intelligence to operators.
- Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous operational problems into technical plans and measurable outcomes.
- Lead cross-team projects from inception through rollout and drive alignment and delivery.
- Improve engineering quality and velocity through code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and engineering standards.
- Champion Samsara’s cultural principles across teams and offices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software design and development experience, including building and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend web or mobile development.
- Proficiency with modern languages and frameworks such as Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects through rollout and measurable impact.
- Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products and converting AI capabilities into customer-facing products.
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of building zero-to-one products, substantially improving systems, or solving difficult technical problems.
- Preferred experience shipping production AI features such as LLM-based products, agentic workflows, recommendation systems, or other customer-facing AI.
- Preferred familiarity with AI-augmented development workflows such as Cursor and LLMs.
- Preferred background with operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, or inspections.
- Preferred experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture beyond a single team.
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or other evidence of curiosity and drive are valued.
