Responsibilities

Develop and support software applications and services for campus-wide teaching and learning activities.
Build and maintain reusable platforms, shared services, developer tooling, and self-service capabilities.
Build and integrate APIs and services for RAG applications, chatbots, conversational assistants, and MCP tools or servers.
Design and build agentic AI tools and workflows using Generative AI and Large Language Models.
Contribute to data ingestion, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data-lake infrastructure, and analytics-ready datasets.
Implement data-governance controls, row-level security, access controls, and privacy and security practices.
Manage projects to implement learning technology solutions in cloud environments.
Integrate applications with Shibboleth, LTI, APIs, and enterprise teaching and learning platforms.
Test, debug, document, maintain, and support enterprise learning technology solutions.
Provide technical guidance, conduct demonstrations, collaborate with campus stakeholders, and participate in planning and continuous improvement.

An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline is required.
At least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Hands-on experience in at least one focus area: cloud computing, data lake or analytics infrastructure, AI/ML, or data governance.
Cloud experience with managed services and containerized applications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes is preferred.
Experience with AWS managed services and deploying and operating cloud-hosted solutions is preferred.
Full-stack development experience is preferred.
Experience with Python and/or TypeScript is preferred; experience with other languages such as Rust is an asset.
Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
Experience with RAG, chatbots, conversational assistants, agentic AI workflows, APIs, and MCP is preferred.
Experience with relational databases, data cleaning, complex data structures, SAML, LTI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline is an asset.
Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, collaboration, initiative, and ability to explain complex concepts in plain language are expected.

Ongoing position at the University of British Columbia.
Monthly base compensation range of CAD $7,158.42 to $10,292.25.
Work supports face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online learning technology environments.
