Responsibilities
- Develop tools for shading, rendering, and compositing teams to support non-photorealistic artistic visions.
- Prototype tools in Nuke and manage their lifecycle from initial creation through shot integration.
- Provide technical guidance to artists using the developed toolsets.
- Create documentation and visual references showing utility capabilities.
- Optimize existing frameworks to improve production pipelines and productivity.
- Maintain accountability to Look of Picture and DFX leadership.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field.
- Proficiency in Python, OSL, and C++.
- Familiarity with Nuke Python APIs, NDK, BlinkScript, gizmo creation, and standard compositing workflows.
- Basic knowledge of libraries, custom plugins, interface tools, UI design principles, and Qt/PyQt.
- Basic knowledge of lighting, compositing, and studio pipeline architecture.
- Competency with UNIX/Linux systems and Git version control.
- Basic knowledge of Katana, Houdini, and Maya or equivalent digital content creation applications.
- Creative vision, professional autonomy, personal initiative, and enthusiasm for non-photorealistic rendering tool development.
- A demo reel showing relevant artistic and technical experience, including work applicable to this role.
- Experience or interest in traditional artistic media such as watercolor, gouache, or charcoal, and a passion for photography, painting, or classical design are desired.
