Responsibilities
- Build, extend, troubleshoot, and fix complex Ruby and Go applications, including a Ruby monolith and self-contained Go microservices.
- Improve the execution engine for custom third-party code, including Ruby DSL isolation, performance, and new features.
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient Ruby and Go code throughout the development lifecycle.
- Integrate data storage and messaging solutions including PostgreSQL, Amazon S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse.
- Conduct code reviews, evaluate system improvements, identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation while exploring technologies such as Rust and WebAssembly.
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry experience and a BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Strong experience building scalable distributed backend applications, with at least 5+ years stated for this area.
- Understanding of databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, monitoring, network protocols, database technologies, and basic data structures and algorithms.
- Multilingual programming experience, especially with Ruby and a willingness to work with Go and Rust.
- Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Optional qualifications include Go or Rust, network programming, application or data security, physical database design, Docker and isolation technologies, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, data-processing pipelines, REST APIs at scale, WebAssembly, and Kotlin Multiplatform experience.
