Base Salary
$244k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and scale multi-rail payment systems covering ACH, RTP, and card networks.
- Design and build scalable distributed backend services handling high transaction volumes with low latency and strong data consistency.
- Optimize Sidekiq background job infrastructure for underwriting, collections, and payment workflows.
- Lead architecture decisions for core financial systems while balancing reliability, cost, and delivery speed.
- Build data pipelines supporting ML models and real-time decision engines.
- Partner with product, data science, and operations teams to deliver customer-focused features.
- Own technical initiatives end-to-end, including design, implementation, rollout, reliability, and performance.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design documents, and technical guidance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with modern backend frameworks and a track record of building and scaling production systems.
- Strong systems design experience architecting and shipping high-throughput distributed systems with data consistency.
- Production experience with background job processing systems such as Sidekiq, Resque, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of database optimization, caching strategies, and performance tuning.
- Preferred experience with payment systems, financial infrastructure, regulated environments, ACH, card processing, or real-time payments.
- Preferred experience working with ML or data science teams to productionize models and algorithms.
- Preferred experience in fintech, payments, or lending infrastructure.
- Ability to make pragmatic infrastructure decisions and own complex technical initiatives end-to-end.
- Strong observability mindset involving metrics, logging, tracing, and monitoring.
- Ability to mentor teammates and collaborate effectively across product, data science, and operations.
