Responsibilities
- Own and evolve foundational systems for WHOOP Enterprise, including APIs and account management.
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for enterprise use cases.
- Collaborate with design, analytics, and engineering teams to create scalable solutions.
- Define technical direction, system architecture, and implementation standards.
- Build systems with a focus on security, privacy, reliability, and correctness.
- Develop observability and monitoring practices to ensure system stability.
- Deliver high-quality, well-tested code following best practices.
- Establish engineering foundations, including documentation and mentorship.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.
- Experience building production backend systems and RESTful APIs, preferably in Java.
- Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and account management concepts.
- Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing services in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Comfort with full-stack contributions, including web applications using AI tools.
- Strong system design skills for scalable and maintainable software.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ownership over outcomes.
- Clear communication skills and ability to articulate technical tradeoffs.
- Builder mindset with interest in shaping and scaling the platform and team.
