Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Set technical direction, engineering standards, governance, and roadmaps across multiple projects or domains.
- Design architecture and lead development of large-scale, scalable, reliable, resilient, cloud-native systems, distributed services, APIs, and customer-facing products.
- Remain hands-on throughout product development, deployment, scaling, modernization, and ongoing support.
- Lead design reviews, evaluate technical risks and trade-offs, and ensure performance, scalability, maintainability, and consistency.
- Build or integrate AI-powered, generative AI, LLM, RAG, or intelligent automation capabilities into customer-facing products.
- Mentor software engineers, promote best practices, and foster continuous learning and development.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Security, QA, Data, and Operations.
- Represent the company as a technical expert in industry forums, conferences, and events.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience developing scalable and resilient web-based products and solutions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong recent hands-on experience with C#/.NET Core and AWS.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithm design, object-oriented design, SOLID, DRY, DDD, and database design principles.
- Experience applying architecture and design patterns to complex business problems and owning architecture for large-scale production systems.
- Experience designing and developing high-traffic, performant REST APIs using ASP.NET or similar frameworks; API gateway experience is a plus.
- Expertise with modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
- Experience with AI technologies including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning.
- Experience with AWS public cloud infrastructure, including EC2, S3, ALB, Auto Scaling, RDS, Lambda, SQS, and containers.
- Experience building enterprise distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and cloud-native applications.
- Experience building or integrating production AI/ML, generative AI, LLM, RAG, or intelligent automation capabilities into customer-facing products.
- Experience modernizing complex legacy web applications into cloud-native solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to launch products, platforms, services, APIs, or major capabilities from concept or prototype through production while defining architecture, service boundaries, standards, and delivery practices.
- Ability to mentor others, promote DevOps practices, AI development tools, and test-driven development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries, navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and deliver results.
- Willingness to learn and support the legacy codebase during transition to the next generation.
- Candidates outside the Washington, DC area must be willing and able to travel to the Washington, DC office as needed.
