Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, high-performance software architectures.
- Own the technical delivery of large and complex initiatives from planning through completion.
- Maintain end-to-end understanding of system architecture across multiple codebases.
- Write high-quality, performant Haskell and make sound tooling and library choices.
- Apply testing strategies that balance reliability, pragmatism, and delivery speed.
- Remove blockers, focus teams on outcomes, and reduce wasted effort.
- Communicate complex technical and organizational topics across teams and stakeholders.
- Mentor and support engineers while improving team capability, wellbeing, and long-term effectiveness.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing scalable, evolutionary architectures and solving complex problems.
- Experience owning and delivering large, ambiguous initiatives end to end.
- Deep technical understanding across systems and the ability to raise others’ technical capability.
- Hands-on experience writing performant Haskell and selecting tooling and libraries.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, mentoring, and feedback skills.
- Ability to balance high engineering standards with pragmatic delivery and product impact.
- Collaborative approach with an emphasis on product quality.
- Experience in insurtech, insurance, or related industries is especially valued.
- Experience working in a distributed environment is especially valued.
