Base Salary
$123k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop enterprise-grade backend applications using Java 8+ and Kotlin.
- Design and build scalable RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Implement secure application and API practices using encryption, authentication, authorization, and cryptographic standards.
- Build asynchronous and concurrent applications and optimize performance, scalability, resilience, and reliability.
- Use Maven or Gradle and write automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance and system reliability.
- Perform code reviews, mentor engineers, and drive engineering best practices.
- Lead technical design discussions and collaborate across engineering, architecture, and product teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend application development.
- Extensive experience with Java 8+, Kotlin, enterprise applications, concurrency utilities, RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
- Experience implementing application and API security using JWE, JWT, JWS, TLS/SSL, OAuth 2.0, encryption, key management, and related cryptographic protocols.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, automated testing, production troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Preferred experience with Vert.x, Spring WebFlux, Quarkus, Micronaut, Reactor, Couchbase, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, event-driven architectures, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS, Google Cloud, CI/CD tools, and observability platforms.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience performing code reviews, mentoring engineers, leading technical discussions, and driving engineering standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
