Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve Redpanda-based event-streaming infrastructure.
- Develop replacement authentication and authorization services.
- Create event-driven solutions to replace batch processing across systems.
- Write Go code, maintain shared libraries, and manage client-facing and internal service deployments.
- Contribute to scalable and reliable architecture decisions and improve cross-team system interactions.
- Maintain software quality and test coverage, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot incidents and bugs.
- Take ownership of tasks from requirements through deployment and monitoring.
- Participate in on-call support when needed for timely engineering projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience writing code in strongly typed languages, including at least one year of Go experience.
- Kubernetes experience beyond the basics, including the ability to write Helm charts and knowledge of security best practices.
- Experience with relational databases and solid database fundamentals; Alpaca uses PostgreSQL.
- Previous startup experience and comfort working through technical debt and limited processes or documentation.
- Ability to own tasks from requirements gathering through implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
- At least three years of experience working on systems at scale.
- Preferred: familiarity with Kafka or Redpanda and event streaming.
- Preferred: knowledge of JWT, OpenID Connect, SAML, Keycloak, or authentication systems.
- Preferred: experience with Argo CD, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform, or Google Kubernetes Engine.
- Preferred: experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Tempo, and PromQL.
- Preferred: familiarity with FlatBuffers, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, and RESTful APIs.
