Responsibilities
- Lead moderate- to high-complexity technology initiatives involving feature development, system enhancements, upgrades, and deployments.
- Design, implement, test, debug, document, and improve robust software solutions.
- Use approved AI tools for code generation, refactoring, code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Improve service quality, performance, stability, scalability, and developer efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve recurring and non-trivial technical issues and lead resolution efforts to meet SLAs.
- Embed security, compliance, risk controls, and responsible data handling into design, development, and support activities.
- Lead code reviews and technical design discussions and provide constructive technical guidance.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge about technology, domain context, and effective use of AI tools.
- Communicate technical status, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Provide production support, including deployments, upgrades, environment stability, on-call, and incident support.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination of these.
- Approximately 4+ years of professional software engineering or application development experience with a record of delivering production-quality systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Kafka, Python, and relevant team frameworks.
- Experience applying AI-assisted development practices and using AI-powered engineering tools.
- Understanding of the end-to-end software development life cycle and experience with Agile and DevOps delivery models.
- Advanced proficiency with source control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Experience supporting deployments, upgrades, environment stability, production operations, on-call, or incident support.
- Foundational knowledge of databases, APIs, distributed systems, messaging platforms, and system integrations.
- Awareness of security, risk, data privacy, compliance, and responsible AI usage.
- Ability to troubleshoot moderately complex technical issues using documentation, system telemetry, and AI-assisted insights.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, technical leadership, decision-making, and system ownership skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning, including emerging AI technologies and engineering patterns.
