Responsibilities
- Design, build, run, and monitor Okta’s production infrastructure.
- Lead initiatives and projects that strengthen security for critical infrastructure.
- Respond to production incidents, triage complex issues, and identify preventative improvements.
- Identify and automate manual processes while continuously evolving monitoring tools and platforms.
- Promote best practices for scalable, reliable services across engineering.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures.
- Participate in a 12x7 online environment and on-call rotation.
- Serve as a technical subject-matter expert focused on security at cloud scale and act as a liaison between Security and Engineering.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience architecting and running complex AWS or other cloud networking infrastructure resources.
- At least 2 years of experience with Chef and Terraform.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Experience automating, securing, and operating large-scale production IAM and containerized services in AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers.
- Deep knowledge of Linux, OS hardening, networking concepts, IP protocols, and security practices.
- Expert-level ability with Ruby, Python, Go, and shell for operational tooling, plus source control experience.
- Experience with security tools such as Nessus, Qualys, OSQuery, and Splunk.
- Experience with Public Key Infrastructure and secrets management.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and collaborate across teams on complex horizontal projects.
- Preferred experience conducting threat assessments and assessing vulnerabilities in high-availability environments.
- Preferred familiarity with MySQL replication and clustering, DynamoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
