Responsibilities
- Implement backend features for package policy integrations, ingestion pipelines, signing and verification, and reliability improvements.
- Build and maintain integrations with GitLab's software composition analysis scanning infrastructure so findings appear accurately in merge request security reports.
- Write and maintain automated RSpec and integration test coverage.
- Contribute as a generalist across multiple feature areas as priorities evolve.
- Participate in code reviews and provide actionable feedback.
- Document shipped features and behavior for teammates.
- Coordinate with Dependency Firewall, Malware Database, and other Software Supply Chain Security teams.
- Collaborate asynchronously across global time zones, including occasional off-hours overlap when needed.
Requirements
- Backend development experience delivering maintainable production code.
- Solid proficiency in Go, Python, or Ruby on Rails and strong PostgreSQL fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Golang or willingness to work across Ruby on Rails and Go.
- Strong testing discipline, including RSpec or an equivalent testing framework.
- Clear written communication and experience collaborating asynchronously with distributed teammates.
- Ability to manage scoped work independently, communicate progress, and adapt as priorities change.
- Interest in package ecosystems such as npm, Maven, PyPI, or OCI containers, or adjacent relevant experience.
- Interest in software supply chain security, dependency management, DevSecOps, or security-adjacent product development.
