Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services, APIs, and automation for observability platforms.
- Build and operate reliable, scalable services and stateful workloads on Kubernetes.
- Develop self-service capabilities for engineering teams using metrics, logs, and tracing products.
- Evolve platforms based on Prometheus, Thanos, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch, and related technologies.
- Lead technical initiatives from design through production and solve complex software and infrastructure problems.
- Participate in the observability product on-call rotation approximately once every five to seven weeks.
Requirements
- Strong backend software engineering and system design skills.
- Production experience with Go is preferred, while experience with other backend languages is welcome.
- Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting services on Kubernetes.
- Ability to design maintainable distributed systems and own them throughout their production lifecycle.
- Understanding of reliability, scalability, monitoring, safe deployments, and failure recovery.
- Infrastructure operations or site reliability experience, or motivation to develop these skills and participate in on-call.
- Clear technical communication, effective collaboration, and excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Elasticsearch, or other large-scale observability technologies is advantageous.
