Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot high-performance WordPress websites handling significant traffic volumes.
- Optimize websites for SEO, Core Web Vitals, page speed, user experience, and advertising revenue.
- Develop WordPress themes, plugins, hooks, custom functionality, database queries, and REST API integrations.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for code generation, debugging, reviews, documentation, and productivity while maintaining code quality and security.
- Write unit and automated tests, participate in code reviews, and improve testing and deployment automation.
- Collaborate with product owners, project managers, designers, manual QA, and automated QA teams.
- Contribute technical insights to planning, resolve complex technical issues, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7–9 years of PHP development experience with a strong focus on WordPress.
- Strong experience with high-traffic websites, web performance optimization, SEO, and Core Web Vitals.
- Proficiency in Core PHP using object-oriented and procedural approaches, WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
- In-depth knowledge of WordPress themes, plugins, actions, filters, core concepts, and custom development best practices.
- Experience with REST API and WP REST API customization, database architecture, complex queries, and query optimization.
- Experience with TDD and writing tests using PHPUnit, Codeception, and Jest.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices addressing XSS, CSRF, and SQL injection risks.
- Strong frontend knowledge including UI/UX concepts, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS, JavaScript ES6+, and React.js for Gutenberg blocks.
- Familiarity with AJAX, jQuery, TailwindCSS, Git, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with WP-CLI, Composer, Docker, Nginx, Google Cloud, CDNs, Redis, Memcached, and caching plugins.
- Understanding of the ad-tech ecosystem and experience optimizing websites for ad revenue.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring abilities.
- Availability to work at least four hours overlapping with US hours, approximately until 9 p.m. IST.
