Responsibilities

  • Design, document, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure on GCP across multiple regions.
  • Ensure cloud environment performance, reliability, security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Automate infrastructure and minimize manual implementation using Terraform and scripting.
  • Operate GCP key and secret management with Cloud KMS, Cloud EKM, and Secret Manager, including cryptographic key ceremonies.
  • Design hybrid connectivity between GCP and co-located payment HSMs.
  • Diagnose and resolve client-reported infrastructure issues while maintaining security and performance.
  • Lead complex infrastructure projects from inception through operation and shape platform architecture, tooling, and automation.
  • Write technical documentation, RFCs, ADRs, runbooks, and operating models, and deliver team training.
  • Lead by example and establish a high technical bar for other engineers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with GCP multi-region disaster recovery and Google Cloud organization, policy, and resource hierarchy design.
  • Experience with GKE, Compute Engine, Network Connectivity Center, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC Service Controls.
  • Experience writing modular Terraform code and working with containerized distributed systems and immutable infrastructure.
  • Experience with Cloud KMS, Cloud EKM, Secret Manager, Workload Identity, and Workload Identity Federation.
  • Experience with hybrid connectivity using Cloud VPN, Dedicated Interconnect, and Partner Interconnect.
  • Experience with observability using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Cloud Trace, Managed Service for Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.
  • Experience setting up Google Workspace and Google Cloud Identity.
  • Experience using Python or Go for automation and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, event-driven concepts, networking, routing, database monitoring, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Comfort writing RFCs and ADRs through implementation and production operation.
  • Preferred experience with Zero Trust security, mTLS, SSO, AWS, bash, Golang, Java, PostgreSQL, and connectivity to on-premise locations.
  • Awareness or ability to leverage Claude Skills during development.
