Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of cloud and platform solutions for major client programmes.
- Build relationships with client technical and delivery stakeholders and represent platform engineering in meetings, workshops, and governance forums.
- Provide technical leadership across discovery, architecture, mobilisation, and delivery phases.
- Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers.
- Define platform standards, engineering patterns, and operational best practices.
- Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure platforms are secure, resilient, and compliant with client and regulatory requirements.
- Support solution development, estimates, bid responses, and technical assurance activities.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering teams, and programme leaders to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Serve as the escalation point for critical platform and infrastructure issues while driving continuous improvement, cost optimisation, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Significant experience delivering cloud and platform solutions in complex enterprise environments, especially Azure and AWS.
- Strong Azure expertise and cloud-native engineering experience.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containerisation, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience working directly with external clients and senior stakeholders, including leading technical workshops and architecture discussions.
- Experience operating in regulated, secure, or mission-critical environments.
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Strong consulting, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Desirable experience includes government, defence, critical national infrastructure, enterprise-scale Kubernetes, observability, hybrid cloud, internal developer platforms, large-scale cloud migration, application modernisation, SRE principles, enterprise networking, identity management, and Zero Trust architectures.
- Relevant Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications are desirable.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance or already hold it, with clearance required on short timescales.
