Base Salary
$197k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, distributed microservices, APIs, and full-stack enterprise applications.
- Engineer systems that ingest, process, and serve billions of customer data points with low latency, high availability, and strong consistency.
- Build cloud architectures using AWS services and optimize SQL, NoSQL, and Apache Spark workloads for performance and cost.
- Integrate AI coding assistants, autonomous tooling, and AI/ML or LLM endpoints into engineering and data workflows.
- Lead technical standards, monitoring, alerting, CI/CD, refactoring, and zero-downtime deployment practices.
- Lead, mentor, and collaborate with backend, data, and full-stack engineers across cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least four years of software engineering experience, excluding internship experience.
- At least two years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master's degree and seven or more years of professional software engineering experience in two or more programming languages.
- Preferred: four or more years of advanced SQL, RDBMS, NoSQL database management, and synchronous or asynchronous API development.
- Preferred: three or more years of cloud, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and Git-based version control experience.
- Preferred: two or more years of Apache Spark performance tuning and hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
- Preferred: experience leading engineering initiatives, mentoring engineers, using observability platforms, and applying AI-native development tools beyond basic code completion.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, VA and $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, VA; the role may also include performance-based incentive compensation.
