Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed backend systems in Go with attention to performance and memory behavior.
- Develop runtime components operating under high concurrency and throughput.
- Use Go internals, goroutines, channels, synchronization primitives, and context propagation to optimize concurrent workflows.
- Analyze slice usage, memory allocation, data structures, bottlenecks, race conditions, deadlocks, and distributed-system performance.
- Improve execution of custom third-party code through isolation, performance improvements, and feature extensions.
- Modernize runtime components for modularity, structured architecture, and observability.
- Improve trigger configuration and execution across webhook and polling mechanisms.
- Integrate and optimize Postgres, S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse.
- Own initiatives end-to-end from design through rollout and production support.
- Conduct code reviews emphasizing correctness, concurrency safety, and performance.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend applications.
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Strong understanding of databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, and monitoring.
- Understanding of network protocols and stacks, database technologies including NoSQL, and data structures and algorithms.
- Multilingual programming experience; the codebase is primarily Ruby and is migrating toward Go and Rust.
- Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Nice-to-have experience in network programming, physical database design, application or data security, Docker, isolation technologies, public cloud infrastructure, data-processing pipelines, and third-party REST APIs at scale.
- Experience in related areas such as DevOps, machine learning, database administration, or enterprise applications is a plus.
Benefits
- Remote role for candidates based in Germany, Armenia, Georgia, Portugal, Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Greece, and Spain.
- Work with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
